Sharpening pencils & preparing word clues!
Word Search is the quiet classic of the puzzle page: a square of apparently random letters with real words hidden inside it — forwards, backwards, horizontally, vertically and diagonally. MÉ-MO deals themed boards daily, in Easy, Medium and Hard sizes, with a word list beside the grid so you always know what you are hunting. You find a word by swiping or tapping from its first letter to its last, and found words stay highlighted, slowly turning chaos into order.
Do not let the calm pace fool you: a word search is a genuine visual workout. Your eyes learn to scan in sargasso patterns, to spot a Q and immediately look for its U, to read diagonals as fluently as rows. That scanning fluency is exactly what crossword and Spelling Bee players use, practised here at walking pace with zero time pressure. It is the most relaxing game on MÉ-MO, and the one most players open last in a session — a cool-down lap for the brain.
Any straight line: left to right, right to left, top to bottom, bottom to top, and both diagonals in either direction. Harder boards use the sneaky directions more often, which is why systematic scanning beats random looking.
Grid size, word count and word length all grow, and Hard boards hide a larger share of words backwards or diagonally. Easy is a five-minute relaxation; Hard is a proper hunt that can take a quarter of an hour.
It is one of the best first word games: no timer, no failing, words are everyday themed vocabulary, and the drag-to-select mechanic works naturally on tablets. Start on Easy, where boards are small and words run in friendly directions.
